Re: Upgrade Program for Window 7

I purchased an e9150t on June 26, 2009, with the OS upgraded to Vista Business.   When I went to the Hp.com/go/windows7upgrade page to order my Windows 7 upgrade kit, it only allowed me to pick my current OS as Vista Home Premium (eventhough again my computer was shipped with Vista Business).  I did not want to continue with the ordering process, since I thought it somehow implies that I will be getting a Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade kit instead of Windows 7 Professional kit.  I contacted Arvato, and their answer was since the default OS for e 9150t is Home Premium, that's the only OS their website will recognize for the product series.  This kind of sucks because I am certainly not going to "upgrade" to Windows 7 Home Premium after paying the extra money to have Vista Business installed on my PC.  If this is the rule, I wish HP will put a notice on the ordering page telling people what they should expect for the upgrade, i.e. everyone who purchase a e9150t will be getting a Home Premium upgrade kit regardless of what OS upgrade they purchase.  I feel this is a bit of a false advertisement, and the upgrade kit will be useless for me.

Re: Upgrade Program for Window 7

I have found that the upgrade program doesn't address all the original Vista choices, which can be purchased at this time.  The one which stands out to me is Vista Ultimate.  Microsoft has promised all these "extras" which we were going to receive, by paying a nice premium for that version - but which were never delivered. Windows 7 should, at the minimum, be eqivalent to Ultimate and those who own it should get a discount. Will we... heck no.

What are these "extras" you're referring to?

Dexter - Here are just a few of the references to the situation with the ultimate version that are out there, personally I have owned V.A. since its release and haven't even thought about it:

Re: Upgrade Program for Window 7

Oh my. I never read that anywhere. It's pretty bad that MS didnt deliver what they promised. And yes, I would agree with you about reducing the price for the W7 Ultimate Upgrade. But I *feel* that MS won't make such a change in their W7 Upgrade options.

Hi, Tomasell - what product do you have?  If you could provide the exact product # .  It's easy to do:   if Desktop PC, do a CTRL + ALT + S.  If it is a Notebook, look underneath at the Service Tag sticker.  Product # always ends with an #ABA (or -ABA).

You can call tech support and get the computer fixed, but you'll still not be eligible for the upgrade program.

Re: Upgrade Program for Window 7

My HP Dv7 1129 was bought back in January so no free upgrade for me but that is OK since i ordered it from Costco. Can't we just after upgrading to Win 7 make a set of new restore disc's so if needed to restore the system we don't have to go all the way back to Vista and start over from scratch?
