i have notebook PC. my OS is windows 7 64 bit....i have a network printer hp color laserjet 2840...i can print but how do i scan & fax....

Phillip, you are well advised to read earlier posts. The softward that came with the 2840 is not compatible with Windows 7 and HP have not heeded to requests to provide upgraded software. You can fax using the document feeder and front panel. Otherwise faxing and scanning can only be done using the Windows Fax and Scan tool located in the Windows Toolbar.

Like most of you I was having trouble scanning and such to the HP 2840 from my laptop loaded with Windows 7.  It would sometimes work using a USB connection, but not through a router.  After reading some of HPs documentation, it seemed like the Windows Vista version of the HP 2840 software was the way to go.

So I downloaded the full HP 2840 software for Windows Vista and loaded that on my laptop that's using Windows 7.  Now I can print, scan and everything from my laptop going through the router (and I'm connecting to the router wirelessly).  It's a miracle!!  I can also print from other computers going through the same router, but using an ethernet connection, and they are running Windows XP.  Now I did NOT load the HP 2840 software on these other computers, but simply pointed to the printer using a standard TCP/IP port setup.

I was surprised after all this time to finally get the printer working as it was designed.  Finally!!!

Woul you please let me know which windows visa version you downloaded for 2840 full software version for win 7 64-bit? Thanks for your help in advance.

has anyone now solved the issue of how to get 2840 to work with Windows 7/64 ? Otherwise, i would appreciate, if anyone could give a recommendation for a replacement for this AiO printer - obviously i would now prefer a non-HP printer.

the only solution I've found, is to install Windows Virtual PC for Windows XP mode on my win7 64 bit. I installed the printer in and so scan works.

Thanks to HP ! I've meanwhile got rid of the printer, sold it on ebay for 100€ and bought a new brother AiO Color Laser, works perfect and costed arraound 300€. I'll avoid HP in future. It is unacceptable, that two years after the printer was released no appropriate drivers were released. Maybe it's their policy to force people to buy another printer
