Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

Thanks for the tips.  I had already installed the latest software from HP and found & corrected the missing file/scan problem.  I had everything working fine & then the solution center wouldn't run days later.  Very weird.

I ended up running the software again and rather than uninstalling & reinstallying, I selected add a new device.  It set up another occurance of my existing printer and so far so good.

Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

When I tried to download the software, it went thru the download, but during Configuration I received the "Fatal Error" message during download.  However it placed the Solution Center icon on my desktop, but when I opened that icon, it tells me the Device Installation is not complete.   Then it goes onto say unplug the USB cable and restart.   That didn't resolve the problem.   All I'm trying to do is get my Scanner to work on my HP Photesmart C5280 on Windows 7.

OK What Next?

Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

Hi Aanii,

Could you please post additional information?

What is your printer?

What programs are you trying to use to view the scans you had made previously?

I'll guide you to software that is available (if somehow someone else at HP was mistaken) or provide you with information to enable Solution Centre to get working, if possible.

You may need this document that includes instructions after upgrading:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01887712&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_US...

Here is why I believe this will work -
1) you mentioned you upgraded
2) when printer software is upgraded from Vista to Win7, there is a component that is deleted in the upgrade process.
3) If you are not already on v13, it is important you get the latest software - this also will replace the missing file and you will have the Win7 software designed for your printer.

Hope that helps.

Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

After my upgrade from vista to windows 7 32 bits, the solution center gave a message that no HP applications could be found. I de-installed, downloaded version 13 and tried to install again.

Directly after unpacking files etc. the install started running and returned the message: runtime error with the path to the install file.

No additional info on why, or cause whatsoever.

Any ideas??

(I downloaded and unpacked several times, I even killed all services and processes with HP in it).

Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

I have an HP Color LaserJet CM1015 MFP and have also recently upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit. I have completely uninstalled all HP products and reinstalled the HP Solution Center (although I had to install it for Windows Vista 64-bit as there wasn't a full software solution available for Windows 7).

I am able to print just fine, but scanning is also an issue for me. When I try to scan a document from the HP Solution Center, I get the following error:

"An unexpected internal error has occurred. Click OK to close the program, and then try one of the following:

-Restart the program.

-Restart the PC and then try again.

-Reinstall the Photo & Imaging Software and try again."

I have tried installing the "dot4patch_reboot.exe" that has been linked previously, but I still get the exact same results after rebooting, etc. I also tried the "CPEScanPatch_hpcom_000_001.exe" that someone linked in another reply. I could not even get that patch to work as it stated I did not need this patch because I didn't have any relevant HP products installed.

Is there truly no options out there for this printer (which isn't very old, either, as we bought it a little over a year ago) and scanning with the Solution Center, as I seem to be getting from others with this printer? I will be very disappointed and no longer purchasing ANY HP products in the future if that is the case...

Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

I followed your advice and  instead of reinstalling the solution center, installed a "new device" which created a second instance of my network printer and that seems to have corrected the problem.  Thanks.
