Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

I have a HP wireless new computer - Windows 7 64 bit and an older wireless printer HP C7280 All In One. I can print from my HP computer since it found the printer. But I cannot scan or use the HP Software Center - it says to use disk and reinstall. The disk is old and obviously doesn't work with Windows 7.  I went to HP and downloaded what I thought would work HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers and after almost an hour of downloading - I ran it and it said it installed successfully.  But HP Software Center still doesn't work. I tried Add Device - it finds the wireless device - I click on it and it tries to install but then stops and says "fails" and to retry or click to finish without connecting.  Retry a dozen times doesn't work. Can't seem to get this to work in any way and getting pretty frustrated.  Any ideas?

Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

I've just moved from Visat a to Windows 7 and cannot get my HP scanjet 2400 series scanner to work. It doesn't even appear as connected hardware.

Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

I have a Gateway desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and an HP officejet 6210 All In One. I can print from my HP computer since it found the printer. I can scan, but the scans are light and grainy. I downloaded  HP Solution Center 13.  I went to HP and downloaded what I thought would work HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers and after almost an hour of downloading - I ran it and it said it installed successfully.  But HP Software Center still doesn't work. It can't find my printer and asks me to connect the cable endlessly.

I spoke with an HP rep last week and he told me the 64 bit drivers won't be out  'til the end of February.  Is this the case?  Having people jump through fiery hoops is ridiculous when HP knows full well that none of the steps are going to work.  Don't be Toyota.  When a car runs off a cliff because of a mechanical failure, don't blame it on floor mats.  Be straightforward and tell the truth, and people will understand. When Vista came out, I couldn't use my printer for two months.  PLEASE... TELL US THE TRUTH SO WE STOP WASTING OUR TIME!!!!!!

Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

Same for me - the funny part is this has been working for months and recently stopped.   I reinstalled the entire HP driver suite - and still no go.   I wonder if the recent flash update broke this.

Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

I have been playing around with this problem today by reinstalling the printer driver and software with no result in fix. I decided to look at the printer properties and discovered this hidden scanner interface: Go to start, then devices and printers (in windows 7)   (control panel, then printers in Vista) and double click on your defaulted printer. There, you should see "scanner actions". Highlight it and then right click and then click "create shortcut".  A shortcut named "scanner actions" should appear on your desktop. Then double click to open it and double click "scan a document or photo". There you will see a generic interface of the solution center which will enable you to use your scanner. After that, an import screen opens and asks where to import it to (which is defaulted to the pictures folder). What I did was I created a folder on my desktop and named it "scanner import". Once my scan is complete, I will be able to find it easy on my desktop and from there, send it to where I need to use it, print, fax, etc. Since the scanner is working this way, this is telling me that it is installed. What's not installed properly is the solution center which still reports that the "HP solution center cannot run because your device installation is not complete." There is a glitch in the software that HP needs to fix, but until then, this will work.

Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

Hi Imanetter2!

Thanks for posting your solution on this board for everyone but it didn't work for me. I followed your protocols to the "T" but when I clicked on "scan document," my laptop (Sony Vaio with Windows 7 64-bit) sent some kind of message to my HP Photosmart All-in-One C309a) because my printer started flashing the "scanning" message but nothing happened. It didn't scan and pressing the "cancel" button on the printer didn't cancel the command. The only way to get the process stopped was to literally pull the plug on my printer.

All my equipment is new and I have the latest, full version of HP Solutions Center (dated 3-10-10) downloaded to my laptop. I use this equipment for my home-based writing business and I really need to get this thing working properly so I can send PDFs to my clients.

HELP!!??

Thanks!:womansad:

Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

Sorry that didn't help. Here is something else to try. I believe this would be the same path on anyones computer (with 64 bit editions of windows). Go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpiscnapp.exe. Double left click on it and it should open a scanning window. If this works, then right click and send a shortcut to desktop. It worked for me. Good luck.

Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

Today I got a call from the higher tech support from HP. He told me that the problem that HP printers are having with the install is something in the Windows 7 upgrade version and mostly the 64 bit version.  This tech came up with a solution for me to get the solution center to install the right way. Although he said that it may not work for other computers, you may want to try it. First, I had to remove the printer and all it's related software. Once I re-booted, I was told to create a new user account. Once created, log off of your regular account and on to the new created account and then install the printer and the software. After doing this, test the solution center. If it is successful, then go and delete the newly created user account. Mine is finally working now. I wanted to share this with everyone in hoping that this could fix someone elses problem, like it fixed mine. Good luck to all who tries this!

Re: Windows 7 and HP Solution Center

I have been having similar problems with V13 of Solution Center not working with separate HP scanner and printer in Windows 7 - it stalls when you start up Solution Center and says that installation is not complete.  I used to have the scanner and printer working together with Solution Center under Vista.  I had followed advice in various forum posts and tried the recommended patch and reinstallation, (re-)installing the latest drivers, and running in compatibility mode but none of these has worked for me so far.  I then contacted HP support (online chat option) and was told by them that Solution Center is not yet supported in Windows 7 and to check back at the support pages for when it is released for Windows 7.  That would at least explain why it doesn't work under Windows 7!  So, should I just wait patiently for Solution Center for Windows 7 to become properly available, or keep trying different re-installs, work-arounds, downloads, patches etc. in the hope I eventually get lucky?
