Windows 7 and HP Laserjet 1012 Driver not working

I have original 1010/1012/1015 Install disk if anyone needs a copy.

Worked for me to hit the windows update button during the printer install to get a complete printer list (apparently Win7 does not have the full list at installation) and choosing the Laserjet 1015.

thanks for this. however, this is not a solution. many drivers will make the laserjet 1010 print in windows 7.

all of them have the same problem. you eventually get a message: unsupported personality: PCL

turning the machine off and on to clear the buffer allows printing to occur again, but this is not the way a printer is supposed to work

your driver does not work any better than the three or four others suggested

I followed the advice posted earlier about downloading the Laserjet 1015 Windows 7 driver software and my Laserjet 1012 printer works fine now. Thank you! I do not understand why HP doesn't add this Windows 7 driver to the list of downloads available for the 1012 printer.

 {I installed the new printer driver software before connecting the USB printer cable to my computer. I selected the dot4 (IEEE 1284.4) as the printer port}.

Wow! Thank you so much sk2play.  You are a genius.  You wouldn't believe the time I spent trying to make my HP LaserJet 1012 work on my new HP laptop. You saved the day in less than 2 minutes!  Thanks again.  This fix worked perfectly for my new (2012) HP Pavilion g6 laptop.

I am very unhappy with the fact that HP has NOT updated their driver for the HP 1012 - when with HP do the right thing and update the driver?  I loaded the HP3055 driver and it did work, now it does not, clearly, someone is not talking to HP.  I think I will go to Gripevine and make a complaint, HP does not seem to care, with out fix, HP will loose customer loyalty, fix it!!!!

I used the trick regarding the instructions regarding the 3055 PCL5 post.  It worked beautifully.  I cant imagine how you came up with it.
