Try this - it worked for me - turn uac off before continuing
1) Run the vista driver setup - sp37354.exe
2) Hit next until the extraction completes
3) a dialog should show asking you if you want to continue - leave it open
4) go to the temp folder - C:\Users\(user name)\AppData\Local\Temp
5) copy the folder pftB016.tmp to the desktop
6) open the pftB016.tmp\Source folder and run Install.exe
7) wait for the process to complete
8) got to pftB016.tmp\Source\src and run Install...wait for it to complete
9) check if C:\HP\has been created with KBD and DRIVER folders. The KBD folder should contain all the binary files.
10) restart your PC...if the install is sucesful the Buttons tab should be available under Keyboard properties in Control Panel
make sure you run everything as Administrator - hope it works!!

My windows 7 is 64 bits, it did not work out for me. I wonder why? I download the vista 64 bits driver, and followed steps by steps. HP folders were created, but there is nothing in the folder but this,

Double check: Don't cancel the installation until you have copied over the temp folder. Did you first click the install file outside of the src folder? and then go into the src folder and click the install file in there?
Also, if you finally get the files located inside the C:HP folder, read below.
Even if you restarted your computer after installing follow the instructions below. I had the same problem and this worked for me. And make sure you have Windows 64bit, if not use the file sp37354 for 32bit.
1. Device manager > keyboards > Enhanced Multimedia PS/2 keyboard > (right click) update driver software.
2. Next select Browse my computer > Let me pick > Have disk
3. Then manually select the driver located in C:\HP\DRIVERS\Keyboard\hpqps2kb
4. Restart your Computer. It will ask you to restart your computer anyway.
5.After restarting the computer go to control panel > keyboard >buttons tab
You should see the individual buttons listed there.

I tried the instructions outlined above, twice, and failed. First, I could not see any file "pftB016' within (or outside of, as a matter of fact) the designated file. When I tried going ahead anyway, the resart screen after the install of the multimedia driver sp37354.exe hung (for a long time, 15 minutes or more, at the "starting windows" screen with the Win 7 logo, which was fuzzy and never became clear. Eventually, I shut down the computer and did a hard reboot, which required the system to do a system restore.
So either my computer is having a MS-HP fit, I did something totally off-base, or ???
Incidentally, I have a Pavilion s3120n with AMD Athlon and a clean install of Win 7 32bit.
Anyone have any further in put, Please?

I had the same issue but I remembered that a lot of stuff that doesn't work normally will work if you do it in Safe Mode (it's how I got the touchpad utility on my laptop to work without notifying me every time I start the computer). I put the PC into Safe Mode then ran the installer as an Administrator from Safe Mode and it worked. So do that if it's never adding anything to the KBD folder and it's telling you there were issues in creating the files in the .log file. It should work if you go into Safe Mode and execute the Install.exe file as an Administrator.

Barsac:
The file may not be named "pftbo16". I noticed when I was first having problems, each time I checked my temp folder, the name was different. So don't rely on that exact name. Try searching other folders for the files you need. If you did this already, Im sorry but this is all I know which help me. Good Luck!
