Hi HP support,
I was just wondering if anyone add a solution to make the
HP OfficeJet Pro 8500_A910_231 work in Windows 8
Consumers Preview yet. Because every time I try to run the
installer it tells me that this printer is not compatible with
my operating system.
Sincerely
Jason Michaud

Hello Jason.
Print and scan drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 are already included as part of the Windows 8 Consumer Preview. You should be able to print and scan by simply connecting your OfficeJet to your pc.
Have a nice day!

Sounds good, thanks for the fast reply, it indeed detects it and works with network connection as well.

What about the wireless drivers...i'm unable to see the printer to add it as a wireless device. What can I do to fix this issue?

Printer works OK in the wireless network under Windows 8 CP, but the scanner is not detected. Cannot activate the scanner to the computer. Any help will be appreciated.

I'm experiencing this same issue - printing works fine over the network to my HP 8500 printers, but I have no scanner functionality. I cannot install the standard HP 8500 software (tried installing with compatbility mode, tried adding version 6.2 to the inf files with no succeess) - so I'm also interested if there is a solution to this issue.
The Webscan functionality (accessing the printer via it's IP address in the browser) just gave me a blank PDF, not sure what th issue is there.

I tried the webscan by using the IP address of the printer and it works. Still puzzled why the app doesn't work normally, even when using the compatibilty solution by reverting to Win 7.

Hi. There are 2 ways you could scan if the scan drivers are installed. You can scan using the Paint application. Press Win+Q and select 'Paint' under the 'Windows Accessories' list. Then click on File>From scanner or camera' and you should be able to scan into Paint. This will let you save the scan as a picture.
The other option is to go to Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer and select 'Start Scan'. This should let you scan the files into an image file, or a TIFF file.
Let me know if this works.
PS: Unfortunately, this solution only works for USB-connected printers and not for ones connected by an ethernet cable or wirelessly. So using the EWS is the only way to scan from the printer UNTIL the full Win 8 driver is released.
Make it easier for other people to find solutions, by marking my answer with \'Accept as Solution\' if it solves your problem.

Will HP be able to create a driver set for Windows 8? The 8500 is my favorite and I'd hate to not be able to use all of its features.

Hello.
Good news: HP has provided a Windows 8 solution for the HP Officejet Pro 8500 and it is available on HP.com. The easiest way to find the solution that you need is using the HP Printer Install Wizard which is located on HP.com at: http://www.hp.com/go/printerinstall
Have a great day!
