HPdv7 Phonecall regarding windows problems, op system Windows 7

I recievied a cann from some company claiming to be a part of the windows program telling me to check my program files, that in my email inbox, messages were coming from Facebook  that could be detrimental to my operating system.  They will first run a complete check on your whole computer including your hard drive and it will show you an astronomical amount of errors and telling you that you have a virus and your system will be wiped out.  They were not from this country, you ould tell that,  But if anyone encounters this problem.  Please report it.  they will fix it they said with a fee that they want at the time of retrieval..  It will show you what they are doing as it is being done to try to get you to buy in to it.  I haven't had a problem with anything on my system yet, so why am I getting these calls now?  Please Someone let me know.

First off I would have hung up and then placed e-mail as junk and blocked it.
