Re: hp laserjet p1505n on Windows 8

Good news / bad news:

They've twice, since I last wrote, updated the announcement regarding a forthcoming driver for the P1005 on Windows 8. In early January, 2013, it was changed to read, "expect this driver in January, 2013." In late January, it was ambigufied to read "...in early 2013." Now it's February. I've been without a proper printer for months.

You know, come to think of it, I guess there isn't any good news. Best technical advice: buy Cannon or Lexmark next time.

Re: hp laserjet p1505n on Windows 8

This is completely embarrassing for HP.

Is it not possibly to create a generic device driver that can handle something simple like a P1005 on Windows 8.

Whatever happened to backward compatibility?

What do I do now, uninstall Windows 8 or buy a new Printer?

Re: hp laserjet p1505n on Windows 8

Hi Frank,

Maybe the next steps helps :smileywink:

To install on Windows 8 apply the following steps:

1. Download the driver that is available on the HP site:

Note: Download this file to the Windows Desktop.

2. Then select the downloaded file with the mouse right click Properties.

3. Select the tab that says Compatibility.

4. Then check the box that says "Run in compatibility mode for" and select Windows 7

5. Under Privilege Level check the box that says "Run as administrator"

6. Click OK to close the Properties window.

7. Then double-click it on the downloaded file to begin the installation.

Note: Remember that the USB cable must be unplugged before installation.

It should appear as follows:

Laserjet_1018_compatible_windows8.jpg

I hope these steps will be helpful with the Windows 8 installation of the Laserjet P1005 printer.

Re: hp laserjet p1505n on Windows 8

[ Edited ]

it crashed. But I found a HP directory in program files after than. There were setup.exe here, I tried to run it in compatibility mode. Crashed too with "file not found message". I extracted *.cab files content from this directory into the same directory. And open device manager. There were other device - HP P1005, I tried to install driver manualy from device manager  and show him inf file from HP directory in program files. And it works.

Seems to me that it cannot be recommended to common users. But I was desperate, I needed to print.

March 5, today it stopped working.

Hi,

Not a good idea actually. Who kills your printer ? I've got many postes which shows how software can kill hardware just one shot.

We're sorry, but it does not exist. Because the inclination to produce and distribute it is inversely proportional to the passage of time and the antiquation of the printer for which it should long ago have been written, it will likely not ever written.

Check back soon for updates.

KLINIKROBOT.COM SOLVED FOR PRINTER HP P1005 On Windows 8

[ Edited ]

Dear All,

I use windows 7, and just yesterday buy new windows 8, this great OS just upgrade from W7. But I getting problem when to print wiht HP P1005. It's amazing when I see so many users also like me (I have friends :smileyhappy:) Also my webcam can't work.

After 1 days (6 hours) try and error, I already can print using HP PRINTER P1005 NOW!!!

Here my steps to solve :

My Notebook is ASUS K401IJ

a. Turn OFF Printer, unplug the USB Cable

b. On PC with Windows 8, try to uninstall existing (using uninstall from original CD)
or uninstall it from device manager or from control panel> device and printer or else (so many way to remove exisiting printer)

c. Go to Device (windows 8 view) and plug USB cable Printer HP P1005, turn printer ON

d. Windows 8 will automatically detect HP P1005, and status is ready (online) now

e. Test your print - and goal!!!

Note : for webcam that doesn't work, I try go to List Program Installed, and search program that for webcam, I'm doing uninstallation, after that => amazing!!! my webcam can work now!

TIPS : please try to uninstall driver/ software that came with your WIndows7, and plug / connect to windows8 without install any software or driver, and see what's happen will work

Regards,

Sandy Halim
