Hi -
When I upgraded my Windows 7 machine to Windows 8 Consumer Preview it kept all of the HP programs and settings. Last night I upgraded Windows 8 to the Release Preview and it forced a clean install.
Where can I get the HP Recovery Program that allows me to re-install the HP programs? I can't find the software on the HP site. I made the media before doing the upgrade and I still have the recovery partition on my computer. I just cannot find the Recovery program that HP supplies that links to the recovery partition..

Hi,
I would suggest that you recover your system using the Recovery Partition (by pressing F11 during boot) or using the recovery Media that you created. Select the System recovery which will restore your system back to the orginal factory condition. From there you can upgrade to Win 8 Release Preview. I am just thinking that upgrade from Win 8 to another Win 8 version might require Clean install and hoping that its not the same case when you upgrade from Win 7 to Win 8. Good luck.

I did think that could be one other way to restore the applications. That is probably the direction I will go when Windows 8 retail is released.
I was just hoping that there was some way to extract the HP program that allows you to pick and choose what applications you want so I could restore the DVD program since this (and the retail) version of Windows 8 is not going to have DVD burning programs included.
Thanks for the help!

The windows explorer now functions as a DVD burning program. Used it myself.
