Are there any plans to release a switchable graphics driver for Windows 8 Consumer Preview (Build 8250) for the HP Pavilion dv6/dv7 Series?
Several models of the dv6, dv7, dv6t and dv7t Pavilion currently use the following graphics combo:
- Intel HD Graphics
- ATI Radeon HD 6xxxM
For some users, e.g. HP Pavilion dv7-6143cl owners, the recent Intel HD Graphics Beta Driver for Windows 8 (220.127.116.1128) and AMD Catalyst Drivers Windows 8 Consumer Preview (8.93.7 RC10) are incompatible with the Switchable Graphics feature.
Specifically, there are no compatible drivers available directly from Intel or AMD that enable the switchable graphics feature in the Catalyst Control Center (CCC) from AMD, as described here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03048374
Given the large numbers of potential Windows 8 users (more than 1 million downloads in the first 24 hours), will there be a driver and/or workaround offered to HP Pavilion owners on Windows 8 Consumer Preview?
P.S. On notebooks that use this combination of hardware and Win8 CP, it is not possible to enable Intel Wireless Display(none of the numerous workarounds work with the Pavilion dv7-6143cl); WiDi previously worked on Windows 7 and according to the latest Intel Release Notes (Readme_Intel Wireless Display 18.104.22.168.docx) is working on Windows 8.

I have 6145tx also with 6770m and same problems.
Uninstall all graphic drivers you have at the moment.
Go to AMD website and download the new beta drivers for windows 8 and install it.
The error still come up but don't worry.
Every time you boot, go to device manager, disable the display driver (the one with collision mark) and enable it again.
Should work until they release a proper driver.

Your solution solves the:
/!\ AMD Radeon HD 6700M Series (Engineering Sample - WDDM 1.20)
error in Device Manager. Properties on the above device says - "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
After enabling and disabling, the device shows properly in Device Manager and Properties says - "The device is working properly."
The issues I mention above are described in more detail in this Win 8 AMD Switchable Graphics FAQ. There are new Intel and AMD drivers (June 2012 and May 2012 respectively) for Windows 8 Release Preview (Build 8400), but there is still no solution for Switchable Graphics HP notebooks using the Intel HD Graphics 3000 + AMD Radeon HD 6xxxM.
According to Intel, HP needs to publish new drivers to support Windows 8. Their (Intel's) Switchable Graphics feature FAQ says - "Drivers supplied by the laptop computer manufacturer must be used."
