@MP21

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

The Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

As I Understand the screen Auto-rotate feature is disabling the Keyboard and you need assistance in disabling the Auto-rotate feature,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help you, although, to provide an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern:

When was the last time it worked without these issues? have you attempted a system restore to an earlier working time if any?

Did you update the BIOS? if not, please do.

In the meantime, Here's a related HP Forums post that seems to have helped many others: Click here

Hi Thank you for yor reply.

I bought the laptop 2nd hand last week, it has been restored to factory settings.

The screen does not Auto rotate when folded in tent or tablet mode so I have to do it manually

The keyboard remains active when folded as a tablet, surely it should turn itself off?

This has been the case since I turned it on out of the box. I don't believe it is faulty I just can't find the ettings to activate these features.

I assume it has these features somewhere.

Thank you for the update,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

Have you attempted the steps suggested earlier if you haven't - no worries, I've listed the steps below:

  • Win + R -> type 'regedit' and enter
  • Registry editor will open up.
  • Go to path -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AutoRotation
  • Check the value of Enable file if it is 0 rotation will be OFF, if 1 rotation will be ON.
  • Restart and Auto rotation will work.

Keep me posted,

Hi

Thanks again

I followed the steps you listed the value was already set to 1 but still no rotation.

Although it would be better if it did autorotate it will allow me to do it manually when I need it to so its kind of working.

It is more important to be able to disable the keyboard when I want to fold it into tablet mode so that I dont accidentally press the keys. Again it would be nice if it disabled automatically, but  I would also be quite happy if there was a shortcut or manual setting to disable and then enable the keyboard as required.

Thanks again

Thank you for replying,

Normally, the keyboard should disable automatically when the screen is rotated into a tablet mode,

To fix the issue with the screen auto-rotate you could also try the below steps:

1. Go to Display settings

2. Select Advanced Display Settings

3. Select Advanced sizing of text and other items

4. Select Change display settings on left

5. Click on checkbox for Allow the screen to auto-rotate

6. Apply and click OK
