Compaq Presario CQ62-310AU ethernet stopped working ,but router is slighty detecting it

my compaq stopped connecting  to the internet via my router,   but  the router still blinks every two  seconds  where the cord is  .The cord is  not the problem  since  i tried a perfectly working cord with same results.   A one point I did restart  in safe mode  because of a bad shut down- could that  affect  internet settings ?

actually i believe it be called Compaq Presario CQ62-201AU  when i searched   it   didn't come up so jb must wrong

i also  reinstalled this driver  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-87157-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...

Does it work if you physically shove the cable into your computer as far in as it can go? I have the same laptop and the cord very easily loses contact and I frequently have to push it back in. And I've tried this with multiple cords; it's the laptop.
