I have the same issue with mine as well. The notebook decided to start malfunctioning 3 months after my cut off date, and HP was not willing to do anything but offer a discount of $259 to fix the issue they already knew was more than likely going to happen...not to mention it would be better just to go out and spend a little more on a brand new notebook. I too was never given any notice about this, and actually found out through forums when I was trying to troubleshoot what was going on...and like you said...I dont seem to have any issues getting their promotional emails. The staff I spoke with regarding this issue was also very rude...needless to say I will not be purchasing anymore HP products either!

It i sad that HP is going down in flames, they are not taking care of this problem and are trying to gouge the consumers.
I took the advise of another poster and purchased a USB wireless adapter for a wopping 18 bucks with shipping and my pavilion dv6227cl is working fine. They also told me for the 259.00 that I could send it n for repairs, though at the time I called, I had another problem with the terrable blue screen issue. So knowing that I would lose everything by sending it in, I just stuck in the restore disk that I recieved and it is working fine for now.
I was at a local store looking at a new netbook and all I seen was HP products, oh there were a couple other brands, but mostly HP. I ask the sales person if they had dell and he said, no HP is the best out there, wow was he in for a shock. This is where HP is screwing up as I told the sales person in a good loud voice (with lots of other shoppers around) that HP sucks and I would recomend that no one here ever buy another HP laptop.
It takes a lifetime to get a good reputation and only seconds to lose it !!!

back in August I was lucky enough to have contacted HP "total customer abuse" and was told that I was one of the lucky ones and I was to have my know issue laptop mother board replaced FREE for the wireless modem failure, and then 6 months later am now the victum of another known motherboard failure. Hey, I was instructed to realize that HP has an increatable 90 day warranty on all their known failures to be replaced by other known failures.
I have beheald HP for years being a contracted employee, their printers are junk. Borderless 4x6 prints? "Total customer abuse" told me that "that's just something that they print on their box", the printer can't do that.

Everyone call the BBB NOW! http://www.bbb.org/us/
If we can't get them to provide a decent AMERICAN product, then we will wipe out the company. The sooner the better. I'm typing this on a hp desktop, so I better post it quick as so it dosen't die from a known issue before I can finish!!!

ok the laptop apart to reflow the video chip which was the agreed problem as all of these f5XX series (and so so many others) and noticed that the mother board that they TOLD me was new,,,,well it has so much corrosion on it! Thanks HP for another lie. How do you replace a wireless modem (which is a separate assembly & detachable from the motherboard) and end up replacing the motherboard with a used, corroded, ready to fail, all the time you said that it was NEW!!! HA! NOT, used & damaged. To top it all off, you did not even have to replace it at all. Just the modem. It has 2 screws and a separate part number sticker.
So now I'm back on the phone, waiting for a stupidvisor in the Total Customer Abuse department in some foreign country.
This is unexcusable, stealing parts from my PC & replacing them with trash can worthy, so called NEW parts, when they did not even have to replace it at all! 45 minutes on hold, what does that tell you! Crash Axtion Rawsuit!

Hello!! F572US was also my first and last HP product purchase . Around almost two years ago I received the HP email warning me about this laptop's issue. Until that moment I hadn't experienced any problems with my laptop so that I followed the email directions and flashed my laptop's BIOS. Once the process finished my laptop got crazy: BSOD constantly appeared, video issues, etc. It was so painful to get an authorization from HP total uncare to send my laptop for repair, not to mention that my laptop's original warranty period hadn't expired by that time. I finally got my laptop repaired and today my wireless adapter is not detected by the laptop. I hadn't used my laptop intensively, I only use it at home at night since most of the time I' using an Asus netbook. And I agree with must people in this forum that HP is totally irresponsible since they know this is a design issue. I also like to comment about the thermal induced chip burn in several HP/Compaq notebooks which suddenly can be turned on. Accordigly I strongly recommend people not to buy a HP/Compaq product. I can't realize were the "HP smart" advertising came from.

UPDATE: I spoke today with a rep from HP 3/8/10 and was told that my now dead pavilion dv6227cl would require a charge to be repaired. When I told the rep that when my laptop was in for repairs and had a new mother board installed, that should have fixed the problem. The HP rep said " it is strange that your laptop has the same problems, that it had when it was under warranty"....mmmm something is very fishy here. I am but a small cog in the big corporate wheel, but none the less I am a paying customer and I have a voice. i am a reasonable person and understand that stuff wears out, but I did not use my laptop enough to have it worn out already and it sits here at this time dead. I am writing this using my 15 year old Dell desktop and every time in those 15 years, that I have had one issue with it, Dell has stood behind it and it is still working just fine!
Frankly I am surprised that this board is still up and running and they have not made up some LIE to close it down?

I got the same problem, and twice. the first time my computer died is after 1 year I bought the computer, they replace the motherboard. then after 2 years it died again, I contact HP and they would charge hundreds dollars. Due to the larger number of the same issue for that computer, can we contact our atterny general and then force HP to recall this laptop? we know DELL did some bad design for the laptop and is in big trouble for that, we should let HP know if it's the computer self's problem, then HP should be responsible for that, not the customer.

F572US will be my last hp laptop computer as well, i called HP, chatted to them online, and emailed them and they don't care about keeping they're customers. I have the same WiFi issues as everybody here has mention. They offered me to fix my motherboard for $200+ and i started laughing when they told me that.

I am done with HP as well. Laptop overheats...shuts down...restarts and finally crapped out. Apparently not the only one who has problems but if you talk to customer service there are no indications that my type of computer is having any problems..I am the only one in the world having issues??? Try again HP! Had a diagnostic run on the computer and was told the issue was something HP knows about and since it was a defect I should get some help..Right, to bad that guy did not work for HP. I have had to send this computer in to be fixed once before, should have been my first clue. Of course the death of it happens right after the warranty. Well this was the last time I will purchase HP and actually only created this user name to complain about the crappy product and customer service! Good luck to those that want to keep rolling the dice with HP. I am off to discuss with my facebook friends!
