DV6-3025DX and Atheros AR8295 adapter drops signal....

My HP DV6-3025DX has the Aetheros AR8295 B/G/N WiFi Adapter built in.  I use an Aiport Express at work, no issues. At home I use an Aiport Extreme, drops the signal no matter. All my other devices DO NOT!  HP was kind enough to send me a new adapter which I installed with the older drivers, same issues. Newer drivers, same issues. I am looking for any suggestions you may have otherwise I am thinking of another brand to put in here. Thoughts, suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I don't think its an issue with your computer/WLAN card. You need to check appropriate settings of Airport extreme to match with Atheros wireless card.

I understand that rest of devices work fine but Try to reset the device to factory settings and see if it helps.

Re: DV6-3025DX and Atheros AR8295 adapter drops signal....

I would love to click Kudos, but it did not work.  Have already done that route. =/ Yet it works without issue with my  "G" Airport Express. The Extreme is "N" and only happened when I got this computer and this card built in. HP Even sent me a new one to no avail. Drivers, have tried them ALL!  Any more suggestions or hints?

Re: DV6-3025DX and Atheros AR8295 adapter drops signal....

Try to disable wireless security on airport extreme and see if it helps.  Also,I'll be honest and let me tell you that you need to keep doing trial and error to find optimum settings when you wireless connection works fine.

Please check for following Atheros driver settings in Device manager . Try Changing the power saving mode to off. Here are the other options:

    * 11d Mode Switch = Disable
    * 802.11 Bluetooth High Speed = Enable
    * 802.11 Preamble = Long and Short
    * Adhoc 11n = Off
    * Adhoc Channel Select = 11
    * Antenna Switch = Auto
    * BackgroundScan On/Off = Off
    * Dynamic NMO Power Save = Disable
    * Green Tx = Off
    * Map Registers = 256
    * MFP = Disable
    * Network Address = Not present
    * pcieAspm = L0s Off, L1 Off
    * Power Save Legacy Algorithm = PS non Poll
    * Power Safe Mode = Normal
    * Power Save Policy (Background) = Legacy Power Save
    * Power Save Policy (Best Effort) = Legacy Power Save
    * Power Save Policy (Voice) = Legacy Power Save
    * Radio On/Off = 256
    * Receive Buffers = 256
    * Roaming Policy = Very Low
    * roamRateA = 24mpbs
    * roamRateB = 9 Mbps
    * roamRateBOnly = 5Mbps
    * roamRssiA = 15
    * roamRssiB = 24
    * roamRssiBOnly = 8
    * RSSI Threshold = Min
    * Scan Valid Interval = 60
    * Transmit Buffers = 512
    * Transmit Power = 100%
    * Wireless Mode = 11 abgn (40Mhz)

If this doesn't work, try using Wireless G Only Mode to check if you can reproduce the same problem.

Re: DV6-3025DX and Atheros AR8295 adapter drops signal....

I did that thanks and factory reset the Base Station. No change. I just ordered the Broadcom 4313 WiFi Adapter which is listed on parts list for my model #, hope this will relieve the problem. Shall update when I receive it and if anyone has other suggestions until then, I welcome them. Thank you.

Re: DV6-3025DX and Atheros AR8295 adapter drops signal....

Well after serveral weeks of usage in various conditions, various wireless routers including those on the road while traveling, I have come to the conclusion the Atherios AR8295 is rubbish.  The Broadcom card has worked mangnificetnly without any issues of any kind.  The model # is 4313 b/g/n and again it's a Broadcom card. Cost me $24 from HP but was worth it.  I suggest to anyyone having similar issues to give the Broadcom card a try. At least for me it has solved the problems.

Re: DV6-3025DX and Atheros AR8295 adapter drops signal....

Really glad back you posted on progress of this problem with some kind of a solution. To be a honest, its drivers of Atheros card which is usually buggy and cause problems with different wireless frequency and routers.

A replacement with a different vendor did the trick for you :smileyhappy:
