Device manager says my Broadcom wlan is enabled while wireless assistant says its not.

The model of my notebook is presario V6171CL running Windows XP PRO. When I try to install the recomended sp36684.ex drivers thru the HP/compaq support/drivers website, I get a: error "update.pcc 120" has accured and setup cannot continue error message.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Does your wireless still work? Or after the error in trying to install the update, the wireless assistant is saying broadcom not enabled?

Thanks for your reply! since I upgraded to windows xp pro from xp media center My wireless lan didn't work. I wasn't installing a update I was trying to install a full version of the broadcom WLAN driver thats On the HP/Compaq website for my notebook modelto get the WLAN to work. When I try to install the driver via Microsoft Live update I get a message that says Live update can't find the driver/software. Now I have a bigger problem. I thought that it might help to upgrade my bios. So I downloaded the bios update from Hp/Compaq website the whole installation or flash went well, I rebooted My notebook after I rebooted I get a BIOSINFO.INFO file is corrupt or missing on a black screen. Now I can't even log into windows. I ordered Spotmau powersuite 2008 on CD and hopefully that will work when I get it in the mail in a couple days.
