Download speed on internet too slow - Compaq Presario CQ56

Using speedtest.net I get much slower download speeds with my new Compaq laptop that with older Toshiba laptop.  The upload speeds are about the same for both devices (3.6 Mb/s).  Same wireless network for both devices.  What can I do to diagnose and fix new laptop?

Are the connection speeds the same on both?  Is there another website you could test against?

I'm having the same wireless issue, i sold my Asus laptop which had a slower processor and bought the Compaq Presario CQ56 with the Intel Pentium 2.3ghz CPU and my wireless connection is a disaster.

I have looked through all the settings I can think of and can only take a guess at the wireless adapter being poor?!?

On speedtest.net my download speed on my PC (with wired connection) is 1218kB/s, on my laptop it is 260kB/s :-( what on earth!!!?

Has anyone found a solution for this problem?  I have recently purchased a Compaq CQ56-115DX and the connection is less than desirable.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Increase Your Internet Speed By Other Tricks

1: go to ur desktop
2: right click on "My computer"
3: den select "properties"
4: den click on "HARDWARE" tab
5: den click "Device manager"
6: now u see a new window(Device manager window)
7: look down now u can see "Ports(COM & LPT)" ...click on it
8:den double click on "Communication Ports"
9: after open u can see a "Communication Port properties"..
10: now go the "Port Setting"
11: and now change ur "Bits per second" to "128000".
12: and "Flow control" change 2 "Hardware".
and now check your connection speed here scanmyspeed.com
even then your connection speed didnt get speed up then you better contact your service provider..
