I recently got my new HP Mini 210 laptop from my sister. I realized it had XP installed on it so I decided to upgrade it to Windows 7. Everything was working perfectly on the XP version including connecting to the internet via wifi. But when I moved to Windows 7 32bit, the Wifi connection has been unavailable. I tried windows update drivers, I've tried the XP drivers that were included, and even the windows 7 drivers on the HP site. Non of them have worked, and I know this is not a router problem since it was working fine on XP.
The only time I saw it working on Windows 7 is when I shut it down completely, and restarted. It would stay connected for a good 5 minutes or so, and it would disconnect completely. I tried running ipconfing from command prompt, and it would say wireless media disconnected. I even tried pressing the wireless on and off switch, but that did nothing. The only thing that works is the realtek lan, but as far as wireless it can't find any networks around including my connection.
Any help would be appreciated because HP didn't supply any "support recovery disks", and not even a partition to go back to it's factory settings. So I am stuck with Windows 7 without a wifi connection. I don't understand why HP cannot provide recovery disks or at least a partition drive to recover if anything goes wrong with the operating system. It's just frustrating..

at frst try uninstalling the drivers from the device manager.make sure that when you are uninstalling it check that box that says delete driver software.
then connect your laptop to the ethernet cable
then go to the device manager once again and get into action tab and hit scan for hardware changes.once the drivers appear on the list right click on the driver and hit update driver software and let the windows find the compatible drivers for you laptop.
if the above step doesnt work then go to services.msc and check whetther the WLAN auto config is started and the startup type is automatic or not ..!!
HIT STAR IF THIS RESOLVES THE ISSUE.

Tried that, and it didn't work. We are talking about wifi here right? Not Lan.
What I noticed though is if I shut it down for a while, and reboot, the wifi works for 5 minutes then turns off. Also when my computer goes into sleep mode for a while, and I activate it again that's when my wifi turns on for a bit then disconnects completely. I'm not sure why it's disconnecting when all the other wifi computers in my house are connected perfectly.

I think it's a windows 7 issue with the broadcom wireless device. I booted tot he quick web from the bios, and the wifi works. I'm not sure what is stopping the wifi on windows 7.

the only reason why i asked to connect the laptop to the lan is so that the laptop would download the drivers from the microsoft server.
try doing a bios update from hp website then

I managed to fix the problem. I decided to reformat again with a clean copy of Windows 7, and I noticed the wifi worked right after I put in my credentials during the installation. I went straight to the updates on windows 7, and installed all the important ones that were selected. It asked me to restart, and I did, but I noticed that my wifi ended up being disconnected after I restarted.
So I uninstalled the updates, and restarted again. The Wifi worked just when I logged in, and hasn't disconnected. Then I installed the updates one by one to see if one of the installations would disconnect my wifi after reboot. I managed to get all of them installed one by one, and the wifi still worked after reboot. I guess windows update has a crappy way of installing bulk files, and better to install one by one then all at the same time.
Thanks for the help I appreciate it!
