Hi.

I have a HP Pavilion Dv6-2110AX running windows 7 Home Premium and a couple of days ago I got a problem with the internet/network connection.

It was working normally and then, suddenly, just stoped. I have tried everything I know: System restore, Update the driver Wireless (Atheros AR9258 Wi-fi Adapter - ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48001-48500/sp48488.exe), reset the driver (I don't know if I did it right), but nothings helped to fix it.

The only message I get that I can't try anything it's: "Windows could not automatically determine this network's proxy settings". I've tried to do it manually but it doesn't let me change any configuration in there, I don't know why.

In the device Manager, It shows that the wi-fi Adapter is working properly and I can acess the internet/network using my smartphone and 2 other computers at home, so I'm assuming that the problem isn't the router and I don't know what else to do.

The only thing I haven't tried was changing the IP address, 'cause I don't have the configuration for this network and I'm not sure if this is gonna help too.

Hi pustekuchencake, Thank you a lot for the help. But it still doesn't work.

Also, there's is a difference between your solution (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Wireless-Internet-and-home/G70-111EM-Wireless-not-working-with-Windows-...) and my problem:

1. In the Device Manager and Wireless Assistant, the adapter it was showing as "working properly" and "On" 

2. I see that the notebook can't find the networks, as it shows in the status bar

3. As I said before, the only message I get from windows it's this one:

AND EVEN USING THE HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT I COULDN'T GET ANY SOLUTION.

I can't even find the HP wireless assistant for my model to download from the website.

I also have tried changing the proxy settings, but I don't know how to do it properly, so, probably I made it wrong ans still not working.

I'm guessing the only solution it's going to be taking it to a service centre, as HP never replies e-mails and can't give support by phone if you don't have a warranty.

Well, If you or somebody else has a solution, it would be great!

What about the hardware button on your keyboard, is it enabled?

Also, please look in the BIOS and make sure that the wireless adapter is enabled.

If the button on the keyboard you are talking about it's the one that goes just below the screen next to the volume control, yes, it's enabled (on).

In the BIOS, I couldn't find the wi-fi adapter listed anywhere. Am I looking in the right place (print below) ?? 

I forgot to say about another message before, sorry. When I start the windows, this message pops-up too, and I have no idea what is it about. This message started showing at the same time the problem with the wireless begun.

Well, after 1 month   trying to get help from HP and after 2 weeks in this forum (thanks for everyone who viewed the topic and tried to help  ) I just gave up and did what I should have done since I've got the problem.

My solution was use the Recovery Discs to "reinstall" everything and now the notebook it's like when I bought it, but working.

if you decide to do it, DON'T FORGET to backup all your files before otherwise you goanna lose everything, since the recovery system returns your computer to the factory settings.

The best thing was, It took less than 1 hour to do it. If I knew......

My husband and I had the same problem (although there's no telling if it happens again.)  And I looked everywhere on the internet (on another computer) to find the answer.  My husband accidently came across a solution:  Hover your mouse over the bar icon on the bottom right of your screen.  A dialogue box will pop with the name of your internet connection, with the words "internet access."  Double-click on this, and the usual window will come up that shows the name of your internet connection again.  Double click on it here, as well.  The internet should connect at this point.  We accessed this same window several other ways when trying to connect, but it would not work, until we accessed it the way I mention above.  This could be because this is the best way to do it--or maybe we were just lucky at the time.  But it's worth a try.

I have an HTC Android phone and cannot get it to connect to my computer because there is no Wi-Fi.  I want to look on the computer at the internet from the phone.  How do I get Wi-Fi onto my computer please.  I am NOT technically minded so please keep it simple!
