I have an HP Pavilion dm4. I am running windows 7 - 64 bit. I have had this computer for less than 2 months
The wireless internet quit working. this issue has happened multiple times. I called tech support and after a lot of problem solving we did a system restore which fixed the problem but then 2 weeks later the wireless quit again. Did a system restore using the day prior and it works again. This cycle has happened many times and i need a better fix then running a system restore once per week.
I know my network works because I can use other devices on it and if I do a System Restore it will work again.
The last time I called tech support they suggested deleting everything and starting over however I feel there must be a better fix than this guessing game.
When I go into the device manager there are 3 wireless adapters listed
Intel (R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN
Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter
Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter #2
I have been told by my internet provider that it sounds like something with the driver. I have tried to delete the Drivers and reinstall them but this does not fix the problem. I have also tried to download the driver from the HP site but this also did not fix anything.
Please help!

Hi:
I don't know what the virtual minport adapter #2 is. It may be a duplicate.
Anyway, try the latest driver from Intel and see how that goes.
Select the second file listed (64 bit).

Thanks Paul,
I tried downloading the driver but it did not fix the problem. I was told that the issue may have something to do with the 3 drivers that keep loading. They thought that they may be working against each other and causing my issues. every time I delete them they come back.
Do you have any other ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks again!
Matt

Hi, Matt:
I really don't know for sure. Do you have the Intel Wireless Client software installed as well as let Windows 7 manage your connection?
If so, uninstall the Intel Wireless utility in the add/remove programs section and see if that helps.
Sometimes the wireless clients conflict with each other. Each one wants to be the boss.

The Intel wireless client software was not installed.
I ran the troubleshoot and the problem it found was
"Wireless Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration
Any other ideas?
Thanks again,
Matt

Hi, Matt:
Unfortunately, I do not know how to troubleshoot very far beyond driver installations and router/WLAN card tweakings.
When it actually comes to seeing errors like that, if it were me, I would just do a system recovery to factory state/reinstall the operating system.
That would take way less time than trying to figure out what the issue could be.
At least for me it does.

Hi Everyone,
I bought recently the same computer (HP Pavilion dm4) and experience the same issue. despite excellent signal, the wireless connexion just keeps interrupting. There is time to time an error message saying that there is no internet connexion, but I know the connexion is good as my other computer using the same wireless router works fine.
Anyone could find a fix or do I just have to change computer as long as it is under guarantee?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Cheers,
Sofiane.
