HP Photosmart Premium 309a all in one Network Radio failed

HP Photosmart Premium 309a was networked with my Linsky N router along with my Toshiba  Satelite A355-56925 lap top and my desktop  wired USB phone pluged into the router.  Has worked for 1 1/2 yrs okay. Out of town for 4 wks and now the Hp Photosmart says wireless radio is not functioning. Says to contact HP support but warranty was only good for one year.  Is there anything else I can do besides pay to talk to support.

Have tried everything suggested when ran diagnostics, reinstalled wireless system and exhausted just about every avenue.  Cannot wire connect  to printer as it only has a phone style plug and there are no plugs left on my desk top pc . Have tried wiring to  router but still doesn't connect to print.  All other functions seem to work, copy, fax, print from flash drive or SD cards.

Have thought about removing Desk top PC plug from router and pc then connecting to pc from router with phone plug USB but that is only a tempory solution if it does work.  No sense to have an expensive printer that is suppose to work wireless and only be able to connect to PC and not the lap top!

Desperate to print important papers. Very angry at HP that such a failure would exist after such a short time of use.

Re: HP Photosmart Premium 309a all in one Network Radio failed

Only solution I found was to plug PC into router and reinstall printer but use the wired connection set up not the wireless connection. Really a pain! Lost my ability to just push scan to computer button on printer. Have to go into my PC program files to tell it to scan to computer but printing works okay.

Still upsets me and I would at least like to be able to buy a new radio card and learn how to install it. But unless I want to pay for a phone call to HP support that doesn't seem possible.  No one from their web site has enlightened me about where to buy the radio card.

Re: HP Photosmart Premium 309a all in one Network Radio failed

I'm having the same problem with the network radio on my C309a and I found a work around if you have a router. My desktop PC is connected to the printer via USB. I have 2 laptops that connected to the printer wireless. After the printer radio stop functioning I connected my printer to one of my router's Ethernet ports. Now my laptops work wirelessly through the router instead of the printer radio. I was searching for a way to fix the printer radio but from other post it seems like it's a lost cause. My desktop PC, router and printer are all close together. My solution may not work if your components are scattered.

Re: HP Photosmart Premium 309a all in one Network Radio failed

I have this exact problem. The wireless radio failed about one day after warranty expired. How do you connect the printer to router? There is no connector from printer that has a telephone like thing on the end to put into the router. The only cable has a USB on the end which goes into computer, not into a router. Thanks for any help. I'm sick of HP!!

There is a little yellow plug in back of the printer where all the connections are. Pull the plug and connect an ethernet cable from the wireless router to the printer. BTW, I forgot I had purchased an extended warranty from Staples for the printer since I usually never bother with them. I remembered after made that post yesterday. I called Staples and they are going to ship me a new or refurbished printer.

I should also mention that you have to the run the printer's setup program after you connect it to the router so your computers will know to look for the printer on the router.

Re: HP Photosmart Premium 309a all in one Network Radio failed

[ Edited ]

My work around was to have the PC connected to my router. There is a phone type jack plug female connection on the back right hand side above the power cord. I used the router plug that came with my router that plugs into the router on one end and I plugged the other end into my printer in the location I mention above. My router is a Linksy and I believe they call it a ethernet or network cable and it came with my router. It is used to connect your router to the pc, lap top or printer you want to connect wirelessly and is used to set up the connection then removed in after a normal set up.  Both ends look like phone plugs. A regular phone line with jacks may look alike but does not  work.   You have to reinstall your printer software on your PC but you can't use the wireless install. You can only get it to work with the wired install. You have to leave both your printer and your desk top pc connect to your router permantly.

I would still like to know how to get a hold of an radio card to replace on my printer if anyone know who or how to contact  HP without having to pay support fees.
