I'm tempted to install HP Smart Print. One of the prerequisits is the Bing bar for HP, then installing the application itself. Can anyone tell me how much extra memory this will use? Do you know which background process will be running after installing? Will the background processes be running continuously, or can they be launched manually. Any info you have on this will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
This add-on will be enabled only in Internet Explorer.
It will use about 26 MB of memory when it is active.
Background processes:
BBSvc.exe
BingApp.exe
BingBar.exe
BootStrap.exe
When you are not using this add-on then only two of them are active: BBSvc.exe and BootStrap.exe.
This two processes are using about 3 MB of memory.
BBSvc.exe allows to find and install latest updates for BingBar.
BootStrap allows to run HP Smart Print.
As you can see there is no point in special control of this tool.

Hi Daniel,
FYI...BingApp.exe *32 uses 27,268K of memory; BingBar.exe *32 uses 22,168K of memory. If my math is right, that's almost 60mb of memory just for these background processes (considerably more than the 3mb you specified). I am using IE9 with Windows 7 64 bit Premium. Any thoughts on this?
Also, how do you get the BootStrap.exe process to go away after using HP Smart Print (without killing it with Task Manager)? When I'm done with HP Smart Print, it is still running in the background (even after I close the browser).
Jim
