HP asking not for receipt of my purchase but receipt from the store for when THEY purchased notebook

[ Edited ]

I bought a refurbished dv8t and all the wireless & all smartpanel buttons go haywire - turn on off by themselves. It came with a 90 days manufacturer warranty - the warranty sticker is on the back panel. I spent 4 days with tech support trying to resolve the issue and finally they said the laptop needs to be sent back to HP to be fixed but to call back again since some connection of theirs was down. I call back and now HP says I need to ask the store I bought it from for their receipt they have from whom the store purchased the laptop from!!! What kinda crap is that? Which store would give a customer their receipt for the product they purchased and now sold to me?????! Note, they don't want my receipt of my purchase...they want the receipt for the purchase between the store and whereever the store got the laptop from!!

I called the store up and ofcourse they wouldn't give it to me - they said to give the product and serial number to HP and that's all that's needed. HP already has that info! This company, HP, is giving me the runaround instead of fixing a product with  well known defects . Any suggestion?
