The wireless network disappeared from my computer on Sunday 3/29/09. It worked fine on Saturday. I believe a Windows update took place Saturday night when I went to shut it down. Anyway, I no longer have the ability to connect to the internet. I noticed other people were posting similar comments. I have no idea how to restore the wireless network and doubt HP Customer Service will help.
A side note - I purchased the extended warranty through Circuit City and they are out of business. Fitting that it was a waste of money just like the computer.

I have the tx2000 and my card vanished about the same time!!! Many have offered solutions that worked for one time or never worked. Only one advice I followed that fixed my problem for about 3-4 days now.
If you mean by vanished that your wireless card does not show in your device manager, then re-install the graphics driver via recovery tool and hope it sovles your problem?
1- Run recovery tool ( menu -> Recovery Manager -> Recovery Manager)
2- Choose "Advance options" (this will give you a window of list of options)
3- Select "Harware driver re-installation"
4- Click "Next" (This will give a list of harware devices to choose from)
5- Select "Nvidia Geforce ..... driver"
6- Click "Next"
7- System reinstalls the driver and reboots its self.

- The notebook does not detect wireless networks and the wireless adapter is not detected in the Device Manager.

Everone is having the same problem. I have had my computer "fixed" twice already under their warranty. The 2nd time they even switched out my processor to a different processor without telling me and then denies it! Had a dual core before I sent it, came back and dual core is not recognized and AMD Info displays a different processor hmmm....I've been on the phone for hours with these people.

I have the same problem! My laptop is tx1410us.
On March 28, after some Vista and HP updates, WLAN simply disappeared!
I paid for additional HP assistance - after warranty that conveniently expired just two months ago!
In the last 13 days:
I spent hours on phone with allegedly competent HP technicians - 26 SO FAR - India, Honduras, Philipini, US!!! We did:
- a few complete recoveries - back to the factory condition
- renstalled drivers about 106 times
- + performed 1600 various more or less stupidities in recovery manager, device mamanger, N&C, etc....
I even got a recovery DVD that my laptop allegedly didn't need!!!
And: WLAN appeared several times and disappered again - ALWAYS after some updates there were downloaded and installed INSPITE of changed settings not to download ANYTHING without my approval.
This is obviously a software problem that HP doesn't want to admit! There are scores of us on these pages only!!I
Now, I am waiting for some "the best people" from the midwest center to call (they should have called at 2 p.m.- now is 3:12!!!).<text deleted>
The newest development:
I've just talkied with those smart people. A guy immediately told me that the problem is with the motherboard!!! They KNOW THAT! In fact, probably the connection of the motherboard and the network card vanishes first! They publicly acknoiwledged the problem with some laptop models but not yet with tx models!
