I have been having issues with my dv6000 series HP laptop (not sure of the specific model as I do not have it in front of me now) for the past couple of weeks. I had similar issues about a year ago where the wireless would work sometimes and not work others. I did a bit of Googling and saw all the issues that people were having so I downloaded the new BIOS updates and it had worked perfectly until a couple of weeks ago.
I'm running Vista 32-bit (I believe it's Home, could be pro...original software that came with the laptop). My wireless will work fine for a certain period of time, then it will magically drop out. Sometimes it comes back, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it still shows that it's connected in the graphic on the task bar, but no connection exists. I've noticed that most people having issues with wireless on these series of laptops have the wireless completely dropping out. I was curious to know if intermitent connection issues were also part of this problem. Just trying to find a possible solution. I have no issue with purchasing a 3rd party USB adapter, but I'd like to see if I can find any solutions before I do that.
Thanks!

In order to help you further, could you please provide us with more information about your computer? Please post the specific model number or the (PN - Part Number) from the white tag on your computer. This will help us locate drivers and identify correct parts for your specific model.

I was able to get online long enough last night to upate the drivers for my network adapter. That seemed to have fixed the problem, but I later closed the lid and put my laptop away for a bit, then opened it back up to use it and the connection was lost again. I haven't had the chance to recreate this to see if it's still having the same issues or if it was just a fluke.
The basic issue is the wireless connection drops and you get the typical web browser screen when there's no connection, you retry a few times and sometimes it comes back and other times it doesn't. It's very sporatic and there doesn't seem to be any method to the madness. This whole problem is driving me batty considering I had similar issues a year ago and they were fixed, but now they've seemingly returned and I have absolutely no idea why.

Hi,
any news on this one?
I just bought a dv6 1340-SF and I am currently experiencing the exact same issue. Moreover, when I go just a few meters away from the router, I never manage to get a connection (although my laptop "sees" my network SSID).
In comparison, an older laptop of mine (without a N wireless card!!!) is working like a treat and the wireless connection is as stable as a direct plug?!?
I haven't tried checking for a new pilot yet, as I had issues with Vista Service Pack 2 (the typical no sound issue) and just managed to restore my settings before SP2...
I am gonna change to a Powerbook soon at this rate...
Many thanks for ANY hint/support.

I have a brand new Elitebook 8560p and am having the same problem. Win XP Pro and this is a corporate laptop with a custom XP image. At first I thought it was the WiFi modem. I also tried a USB stick WiFi modem and am getting the same results. This does nopt appear to be a Windows issue as this is happening across several platforms from what I see on the web. This appearsa to be H/W related and HP need to come up with a fix as this is unacceptable.
