Sorry but setting a router to wep to get a new piece of kit to work is NOT resolving a problem.

It resolves my problem. I don't live near many people and I only have 1 device which runs at N speeds, and G speeds are more than enough for me. The problem probably doesn't even lie within the laptop, as I have determined. My router is usually the one causing the problems. I could probably fix this problem by resetting the router, changing all the settings, plus changing the settings on 4 other devices, but this is the most convenient for now.

EDIT: My HP Mini is now working on WPA-PSK security. The router is set to auto WPA and WPA2, and my operating system (right now) is Windows 7 RC build 7100.
