Internet keeps cutting off, but not on other computers

Hello,

A neighbor of mine got a new computer so she gave me hers yesterday.. All day yesterday I was uninstalling and installing stuff that I use and once I had everything on and off of it I started browsing the web more and relized I could only stay connected for about 5 minutes before it would cut me off again.. So today I re-installed the whole operating system cause she had the recovery cds that came with it..

Everything reinstalled fine, and it was like a brand new computer then.. so I went online and installed the following --

All the updates available for the computer that I found, Avast, Notepad++, Xampp, Adobe, Firefox, and Google Chrome.. but in doing so the internet kept cutting out on me again.

I searched the help sections to try to figure out what the problem was and how to fix it, and it said to re-install somekind of thing, the filename is sp46032.exe so i did that and its still cutting out on me.

Alright, Searching around I found I had more updates that I had to download in the windows update page, so hopefully that'll fix it, but if it doesnt I'll let ya know

Installing the rest of the updates the computer needed and restarted the computer it still does the same thing..

The computer has a fresh install of Windows Vista, connects to the internet for a few minutes, and then kicked me off. It says its still connected when I check it, but to get back online I had to disconnect and then connect again.. it just gets annoying doing that every few minutes.. My mom has this same kind of computer and she doesnt have any problems staying connected to the internet..

If anyone can help resolve this problem that would be awesome!
