My HP dv7 series can't see my 5GHZ WIFI.

I upgraded to the Intel Wireless-N 2230 card when I ordered the PC. Why doesn't this support 5GHZ? Am I losing speed because of this? Will I be stuck buying dual band WIFI routers from now on?

Please use plain text.

Hi:

The card you upgraded to is a single band (2.4 GHz) card.

Specs at the link below.

Max throughput is 300 MBPS, and I would assume that is when your router is set to N only, and not mixed mode.

I suppose you can still get single band routers. Here is one for example.

Or do you mean you only have a 5.0 GHz router, and now you need a dual band router?

Yes, that would be the case if you want to connect your notebook wirelessly.
