Re: Networking Issues

Please can you give us the Model number and the Product number (PN) from the bottom of the notebook.

Don't put your serial number, that should not be shared publicly.

Thanks

Re: Networking Issues

Here is a link to a document on HP.com that should help you find your Model and product numbers, the product number (PN) is really helpful to us.

I also see you're in the UK from your Phone number.

Re: Networking Issues

Can you clarify what do you mean by "phone modem", do you mean the built in phone modem port on the HP 530, and you are using "dial up" or using the LAN port to connect to a DSL type modem?

If using dial up with the phone modem, and dial up nolonger work, then check device manager (in start type devmgnt.msc), do you see any red or yellow mark beside the modem in device manager?

If using LAN to DSL, check your DSL modem, are all lights on? One way to make sure DSL modem is working, is to unplug the power to the modem, wait 10 seconds, and plug in again, wait all lighte back on (power, link, etc.) may be the activity light should be brinking. - if not all lights are on, you should call your internet service provider. Also, some modem has a "standby" button, make sure that is not pressed down.

If the modem checks out, then could be the setting on windows side somehow messed up, if you still have the CD that comes with the modem, install it again, or right mouse on the red X and run diagnose.

If this doesn't bring the internet back, go to device manager (run devmgmt.msc), check the status of the "Network adaptors", again if there are red or yellow marks by the side, either the adaptor is bad or driver need update.

Missing Graphics

I dont thing you understand my situation.Let my talk you through. >In the Network and Sharing Center, there's a graphical illustration of your system connection,i.e,when you're connected, your Computer,Internet adapter and internet are graphically illustrated on top of the Network center page, thereby showing an arrow connection from the Computer to the adapter and then to the net. >In my case, whenever i'm connected those graphic does not appear,it only shows connection not register.Although i can browse with it but there's no indication that i'm connected. > Usually, when you're connected to the net in Vista,in the Notification area ,the network icon shows a ball like circle like the world(internet icon) >In my case, the network icon,in the notification area always show a 'red x'.wheather i'm connected or not.I've diagnose but still not working. >Although i've been given an auto fix from other Forum but its still not working.here is the auto fix, although a command prompt: 1.net localgroup "Administrators" "NT" Authority\ Local Service /add 2.Secedit /configure /cfg %windir %\inf\deftbase deftb.inf /db deftbase.sdb /verbose >I dont really know if i'm typing the command right but its not working, other user in other Forum have confirm that this command has fix their problem why not my? >Please i want you to check if this command can fix the problem >As per my Phone Modem.in my device manager theirs no phone Modem,so i guess i most've uninstall it cause it was showing not up to date.and because of this i cant browse and also cannot copy an past those command.
