I have a new HP 635 Notebook PC. This is one of several computers/devices we own that connect to our wireless network. This laptop is the only one running Windows 7, and the only one that arbitrarily drops the connection to wireless and the Internet. I've tried several solutions:
- Turn off power saver that shuts down the wireless to save power
- Contacted HP Support, which didn't solve my problem, yet closed the issue
- Used troubleshooter software resident on the computer
Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this? It's really irritating, since I use mostly cloud-based applications.
Thanks,
Bob

Hi, Bob:
What model wireless card is installed in the notebook?
Maybe a driver update will help.

I tried updating the driver, that didn't work either. I use Google Documents, and seems to happen mostly when I am on Google Docs. Of course since it's what I use most, it may be coincidence.

Hi, Bob:
See if changing the broadcast channel on your router to either 1 or 11 and see if that helps.

I reseated the wireless card last night, and the issue is temporarily gone. If it comes back, I will try a different channel. Thanks!

This problem has appeared in many posts and does not seem to have been resolved. It may have many causes but this fix worked for me.
I have searched regularly over the last 12 months and the disabling of the DCHP broadcast as described below seems to fix the problem in my version of Windows 7 IE THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS IN WINDOWS 7. My ADSL modem in a 2-Wire 2701 supplied by BigPond in Australia.
While I was editing the registry I noticed the IP address entry was 255.255.255.255 strange but I did not change it.

Hello mappon,
I see that you are having problems with the wireless connection on your HP computer. I would like to help with this issue but I need some information.
Can you provide the model and product number of the computer? Here is a link that shows how to find that information.
