Officejet 6700 Scanning Problem

I am using windows 7 (not the upgrade).  Printer works as expected but when I attempt to scan I get the below message (See Screenshot).

This is the message that displays on the little printer display:  

 

"The scan could not be completed due to one or more of the following issues:

-Connection to the computer is lost.

-The scan application on the computer is currently in use.

-OCR application so not installed on the computer

 See the computer monitor for details"

 

I have rebooted computer, printer, router.  Ran the diagnostic tool which says its all working fine.  Uninstalled and re-installed the software and drivers as suggested in the troubleshooting.  Turned off all firewalls (even though diagnostic tool says it's connecting fine...I'm baffled and running out of ideas and have exhausted the troubleshooting ideas.

 

 

Not sure if this adds any insight, but this is the error message when I go to the IP printer Embedded Web Server:ScreenShot2.jpg

 



I have read through the other posts in this forum.  Most of them refer to diagnostic tools that all suggest that the computer is connecting to the scanner/printer successfully.  Anyone have any fresh solutions?
