Pavillion wont' connect to network

I've got an HP Pavilion notebook running Vista and i cannot get it to connect to other computers on a LAN network. i can print from the printer on the network but when i look for computers, there is nothing.I have changed the workgroup to the correct name and other computers on the network can find my computer but i cannot find them.

 

Does it make a difference that the other computers are running Windows XP and i'm on Vista?
