Re: Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter

im having the same issues, driving me insane and im right by the router. Even if I  move an inch the signl goes down! Annoying spending so much money on a laptop and then the wireless card is ridiculously slow. Think im going to get a new card fitted in, nothing else seems to work

Re: Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter

HP Pavilion g-71338. We have the same problem and just purchased the laptop three days ago.

My research into Win 7 slow internet problems says make sure DNS cache is flushed and remote differential compression is deselected in Control Panel /Windows Features... Done and done! Deselected IPv6 from Manage Wireless Networks...Done!

None of these fixes worked!!!

Last chance is one user on super groups site says drivers for Ralink are junk and you have to get new ones from Ralink's site for it to work right.
VERY POOR Customer Service from HP!

Speedtest.net scores are as follows
Ethernet on this laptop is a nice 55Mbps. Same as my Dell Vista Desktop ethernet.
WIRELESS N on this laptop 0.34Mbps!!!!
Wireless G on old Dell laptop 9.51Mbps.
Wireless N adapter on old Dell laptop 22.41Mbps.

The router/wireless does not seem to be the problem with scores like these...

Re: Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter

[ Edited ]

I figured out the problem, if you go Start > Computer, Open up system properties > device manager on left side.  In Device Manager window, click on network adapter.  Right Click your Ralink RT5390R network adapter > click properties.  In the window that opens up click on Advanced tab, click on the options and in the drop down box and click Enable on all of them.  The last one Roaming sesetivity you can leave it on Normal.  This fixed my wireless problems, and gave me tripple the speeds I had, possibly even more!!!  Hope this helps!! If so please click the Kudo's button to the left!!!

Re: Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter

Anthony,

Yes I even tried that too, support requested me to delete the driver and reload it using the ethernet connection.  I tried it and it didn't work either .

We took it to Best Buy where my daughter bought it. The Geek Squad couldnt do any better, despite the superior attitude of the tech ( He KNEW what the problem was and would have it fixed "in a jiffy"!) and after two hours in the store the manager gave us a choice of 4 other laptops to take home in replacement of this HPiece of cr*p.   The manager reccomended the Dell laptop and they completely checked it out before we went home. We are now running 35mbps avg using speedtest and everything is now "jiffy".

Re: Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter

Seems to be quite a few people suffering issues with this useless wifi adapter. Dell sounds like a better alternative for this.
