I can't believe HP! I purchased an HP Pavillion dv9000 Notebook about two years ago. Last month, my wireless stopped working to the point where the computer wouldn't even recognize the drivers. It goes in and out, but lately it's just been out. I contacted HP via online chat about it and they agreed that, even though my laptop was no longer under warranty, it was eligible for recall. I just received the box in which to ship it back, but that's not all. About the same time my wireless started going in and out, my hard drive fried and I had to replace it. Well, the factory issued hard drive came partitioned with Vista on it so that, in case of system restore, I would not need a recovery disc. I had a version of XP and installed that on the new hard drive instead, but my particular notebook is not designed for XP and I have been having issues ever since. Because I replaced the hard drive, I didn't want HP freaking out about new hardware, so I went online and chatted with an HP assistant about whether or not this would be an issue. After spotty English and misunderstood questions, she finally managed to tell me that I would need to PURCHASE a recovery disc to get Vista back on my computer. I have a friend with a Dell computer and they sent him one for free and have heard similar stories from other friends who have notebooks from other companies. I don't understand any of this! If I get my computer back after the recall repair and nothing's gotten better, I will boycott HP and tell everyone I know to do the same. Anyone else having similar troubles with their wireless, hard drives, or dealing with customer service? I'd like to hear stories, either good or bad.
