Check if there's a Broadcom Wireless LAN driver available for your notebook.
If there is (even if the driver is an old version), try it...

Unfortunately, I will have to join this group as well. I bought dv5-1113us with Atheros AR5009 wireless. On the device manager, it says the device is working properly. when I connect it to WRT54g wireless router, I can go on internet for a couple of seconds then it says "Limited Connection". I tried different places like wireless hotspot and friend's house. The result is the same. I tried disabling ipv6 and tunneling, but still the same problems.
Another problem I notice is that after disabling AR5009, there is sound and video lag whenever I play video and music this is my first HP laptop and honestly, I am very disappointed with HP product. I mean, I am pretty sure Hp research team tested the compatibility issues and still chose to put in this piece of junk. Or Hp just simply being neglectful. Well, I am spreading my words around to avoid HP products until they CARE about their Cusomers!!!

My problem is a little different but I'm sure it's related to what I've been reading. I don't get an error message. My problem is that my system will not retrieve and IP address automatically. It can see the secured network, seemingly connect to it, but will go no further. Now here's the strange thing. If I hard code the IP address and DNS info, everything works great. Remove the hard coded info and I'm back to square 1. This is my first G series system from HP. I've been a strong support of their nc and compaq series. I am very suprised at their lack of response to this growing problem. I have Internal contacts and intend on using them to get this resolved. don't know how much help I'll be but someone has to start the ball moving. Let me know if hard coding your ip info resolves your problem.
Thanks,
Tech

Hey, your problem sounds very similar to mine. I could connect to the router but right after the establish connection, it will say "Limited Connectivity". Can you tell me how do I Hard code the Ip address? I have linksys wrt54g router.
Another thing, is there a way to replace this wireless card with similar or different card? Hopefully it's not built onto the motherboard? can anyone confirm this? or I am thinking about just buying the USB wireless adapter. any idea? thanks

To my knowledge there is no way to replace the internal card. However, you can use a usb as an alternative.
To hard code your address,
into your network and sharing center,
Select 'Manage network connections" from the sidebar menu
Double click "Wireless Network Connection"
Click "properties"
Double click "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
Select "Use the following IP address"
Enter your IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway.
You will also need to enter at least 1 DNS server address.
I did find a driver that appears to be a little more recent then the one I have loaded. Don't know if it will make things better or worse.
Hope this helps.
