Urgent Help! Internet Explorer.....

So I just bought a

HP G72-B57CL Notebook with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I use Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer, and I was using Chrome when a dialog box appeared about Internet Explorer not being my default, and if I wanted to change this. I clicked no, to keep Chrome as the default. In the background a large, blank white screen appeared. This screen is most likely an internet browser, and I'm guessing it is Internet Explorer. It says 'done' in the bottom left corner, and has a few other useless buttons in the bottom right corner. There is no minimize, maximize, or exit button, or even a status bar or task bar. It is just a large blank screen. There is no way to exit it or minimize it. It doesn't even show up in Task Manager. Every time I turn on the laptop, it is already there. If you know a way to get this problem to stop, please answer. Thanks for your time :smileyhappy:

Re: Urgent Help! Internet Explorer.....

Hi,

From the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and open Programs and Features.  Click on the link in the top left titled 'Turn Windows Features On or Off'.  Take the tick out of the box next to Internet Explorer 8 and click Ok.  When IE8 is turned off, restart the PC and see if the issue is resolved.

Best wishes,

DP-K
