Note: I'm being a little sarcastic as I've just wasted 8 hours on this.
I guess we should expect to invest every two years in a nice laptop. What's the IRS life expectancy?
My sons DV9817 cl Wireless "Blue Light" stopped working. I've read the forms and tried everything all the way down to "Recovery" post backing up of course.
So I'm not sure whether it is due to a bad battery or the Wireless Assistant, which doesn't even load post recovery.
Plugged in the serial number etc. Says out of warranty - Guess I should wait for a "Fire" or something worse.
I thought there was a recall - don't remember being notified.
How do I fix it?
Get a USB Wireless or just go buy a Mac ![]()

Hi,
Perform a Hard Reset:
1. Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards.
2. Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for at least 1 minute.
3. Reconnect the AC power adapter (do not connect the battery), press the Power button and check is this problem solved or not.
When this will not work then try to unmount and mount wireless card.
How to do this? Check service documentation here (page 57).
If both solutions will not work then buy USB wireless. For sure it's much more cheaper solution then buying new model.
