Wireless button is working (Hp 6730b)

In fact, almost all quick lunch buttons are not working but wireless is the most important. When I press the wireless button, (or the presentation button, or the mute button) it starts the program that is connected to the information button. The wireless button stays orange and I am unable to make any wireless connections!

It seems that all buttons are acting like the information button.

My notebook is an Hp 6730b

Re: Wireless button is working (Hp 6730b)

Hi,

Uninstall Your wireles driver.

If You have XP:

Go to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Devices Manager

Click with right button of Your mouse on each yellow sign and choose properties. Then go to bottom details and paste here device id. This way we will know what it is.

If You have Vista:

Go to Control Panel -> Devices Manager

Click with right button of Your mouse on each yellow sign and choose properties. Then go to bottom details and paste here Hardware Ids. This way we will know what it is.

Re: Wireless button is working (Hp 6730b)

I had the same problem (on an HP dv7) and went around for 3 days connecting to a wire. Then I remember an old "fix" from about 10 years ago when a tech in the middle of the night told me to 1) shut down, 2) unplug the computer, and 3) remove the battery for a minute or two. When I put it all back together, viola, the buttons across the top were working again.

It's simple, takes only a couple of minutes, and requires NO installing/uninstalling or other craziness. I'd give it a shot.

Re: Wireless button is working (Hp 6730b)

It's an old threat, but it also helped me.

I had the same issue, quick launch buttons not working on a HP 6730B.

I was just ordering a new switch cover when I read about this issue.

I turned off the laptop, unplugged the power source, disconnected the battery, and waited (my favourite thing).

After a couple of minutes I fired up the laptop, and everything worked again.

Now I just have to execute a system recovery to uninstall all hotfixes, updates, drivers, changes etc.

If only this tech from 10 years (= 2001!!) ago should know...
