Wireless card disappeared from device manager

Wow..Just missed the class action by a week. My brother has the NVidia chip with the missing wireless adapter thing too. He uses it to talk with his boy 400 miles away once in a while...like every 3 or 4 weeks and now he can't. It's a dv6208. Well I can tell you all there will be thousands of folks, maybe hundreds of thousands that will be educated to stay away from HP. That's a shame they won't make things right -that's theft outright around these parts!! Gonna cost them some market for sure.

i buy for a few days ago... but wireless and bluetooth device not detected....!!  found so many driver... but it didnt work..

how could this happen... give us problem solving....!!

I have hp 6735s and have the same problem. no wireless adapter in device manager list. I was try everything from previous posts, nothing helps. so I decide to eliminate hardware as a problem. first, I was make some measurements on adapter contact, and found that on pin 6 and 7 no 3.3V ! so in my opinion, there must be some connection problem and card not running cause it hasn't power supply. next step was to open my laptop and try to follow contacts from connector to active elementrs, transistor, IC,... It is hard to see any broken wire or cold contact between elements and motherboard. so I was take my soldering station and resoldering all contacts around wifi block on motherboard including adapter's connector.

after finished my work and close housing, startup windows, and voila! found new  hardware, broadcom network adapter, install,.....blue light back on!

so dont try to install drivers, change windows version,etc... this is hardware problem! until you dont see your adapter in device manager list, no one drivers will hepls!

I know, this is not for average users. you must have tools for do this: precision screwdrivers, good soldering station with sharp tip or SMD rework soldering station hot air gun, some experience with electronics works,..

I'm sorry, I didnt take any photos, but hope you will understand what you have to do.

I think it is another heat or bios issue.  I sent my notebook back a few years back with a broken hinge and other motherboard problems.  They fixed the hinge and light problems but the remote control of IR receiver did not work, when the IR receiver did work before..  

A friend who runs a notebook repair company said this is a known issue and it has something to do with the video bios, he has some sort of fix for it, have not brought it to him yet.    I think it is a heat issue since it started doing it more and more and now rarely works.  I am going to disassemble it and clean it, but I do blow out the vents every week.   I will post if I find another solution.  

I went out and got a Lenovo, they repair there equipment BEFORE everyone starts complaining if they know there is an issue.  Most the school districts in the Chicago area use the Lenovo IBM computers for this reason and one was thinking of switching the 10s or thousands of notebooks and desktops to HP but I highly recommended against this.  Luckily they are all running fine, Lenovo just replaced all the power supplies on all companies and district All in Ones around Chicagoland before anyone even knew there was a problem.   Do not know of another hardware company so customer conscious so will continue to buy and recommend Lenovo from now on.    IT support loves it when they switch over to Lenovo for the entire company..

This DID NOT  worked for me BUT IT DID FOR ANOTHER POSTER:

1-Turn off the wireless using the button

2-shut down & remove power cord and battery

3-press power button for 20-30 seconds

4-reinstall battery and power cord

5-power on and wait until fully loaded.Use button to turn on wireless

Hi, I work on a Computer store, and two days ago i receive two laptops(same model) hp tx1000, and they had the same problem, wireless card disappear, so i found this forum and when i start to reading about overheating issues I decide to do a reflow in the videochip so I take out the motherboard and I use a Bernzomatic (propane gas) and I used to put heat over the video chip(about 1 minute or less), then i put compound over the videochip and a little piece a cooper over it too(a penny), then I´d use a hairdryer to put heat in the motherboard(specific over the wireless connection card. Then I reassembly, and voilá ..it works.  I´m really sorry about my English, but 

I wanted to share this information with you guys, and I hope this can help to anybody. Form me this problem was solved. I think the overheating in the video chip induce to the motherboard(i don´t really know how) in order to deactivate the wireless card, I´m not really sure about it, but believe me , I´m working on it..(find the source of problem).
