Wireless connection, cannot acquire ip address

I have a pavilion zv 6000, was able to connect to internet using wireless connection and now I can't.  I have tried everything to connect.  The error message I always get is: acquiring ip address, invalid ip address(it keeps coming up with all zeroes.  I have tried system restore, will only let me restore back to september so apparently not long enough, I've tried updates, tried resetting winsock, etc, nothing helps, I need some serious help.  Please if you have any info that would resolve the issue I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: Wireless connection, cannot acquire ip address

Sounds like it could potentially be a router issue.  Check to make sure DHCP is turned on and that you haven't disabled the wireless part of your router.  Can you connect the laptop using a wired connection?  If so, then the software for connecting is there which is why I would start my troubleshooting with the wireless router.

Re: Wireless connection, cannot acquire ip address

Thank you frprinterwiz!  I finally found where the DHCP was located and was able to start it and the connection was immediate.  I have no idea how it was stopped, but it took me about 10 minutes to locate the file.  Thank you once again for the fast response to my question and for the great answer.
