I have a Presario CQ50 and it is not letting me connect to the Internet Wirelessly. It connects to the network but gives the status of local only. My wife has the same computer and is having no problems connecting to the Wireless. My system is Windows Vista and I could use some real help please! What can I do?! Thank You

Hi:
What model wireless card do you have in your PC?
Maybe a driver update will help.
If you don't know, look in the device manager under the Network Adapters section.

Hey, Paul, I am having a similar problem with my hp mini 110-1100 tord. Whenever I try to connect to wifi, it keeps telling me limited access, and I'm not getting any connection at all. My drivers are updated, but when I check my hidden devices, there is a yellow ! on HTTP under non-plug and play drivers. I'm not sure what the problem could be because just a month ago wireless internet was working fine.

Hi:
That could be a problem. You can try right-clicking on the device and select uninstall. Then reboot and see if the driver for the device is found and installed properly.
If that doesn't work, then I don't know what the issue could be.
My knowledge of network troubleshooting beyond updating drivers and doing basic things like resetting the modem and router, is limited.

I tried that and now the HTTP is gone permanently. Nothing showed up for me to reinstall or update.

Hi:
There is only one wireless card in your notebook. It is either the atheros card or the broadcom one.
Please go to the device manager an under Network Adapters, click on the card that is actually listed as the wireless card. Then click on the Details tab. On the Properties drop down list, select the second item (Hardware ID's).
Post the top string of characters you see in the window.

Okay, now here is the weird thing; under Network Adapters, there are THREE different drivers. The Atheros, Broadcom and Microsoft Virtual Wifi. I have a strong feeling that the Broadcom may be the network adapter because the Atheros is an ethernet controller, and the Microsoft Virtual Wifi is a mini-port adapter. Would it be wise if I removed two and only kept one? (Also, here are the Hardware IDs)
Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN: PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&SUBSYS_1507103C&REV_01
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&SUBSYS_1507103C
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&CC_0280
If you want the Atheros and Wifi Hardware IDs I could send them too.

Yes, please post all of them because this is very unusual...
