Wireless connection - really slow or not there

[ Edited ]

Hi,

I have an Envy 17 2092eo laptop, and I made a clean install after I got it home from repairing (new harddrive).

But, it's wireless seems really slow, I can sit litterally 2 meters from the router and it says poor connection. The room beside me, no connection at all.

If I sit directly at next to the router it goes from average to excellent, but download speed is really messy, swinging from 10mbps to 50mbps.

my Hardware ID's for my Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 AGN :

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4239&SUBSYS_13118086&REV_3E
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4239&SUBSYS_13118086
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4239&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4239&CC_0280

can someone help me?

Re: Wireless connection - really slow or not there

Hi:

Did you try the latest driver directly from Intel?

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Wireless+Networking&Product...

Just select the operating system and bit version you are using.  Normally the first couple of downloads listed are for the drivers only which is all you need if you let Windows manage your wireless connection.

Re: Wireless connection - really slow or not there

Hi, yes I just tried it. Still losing all connection when I'm placing myself at my work table.

I have a new Linksys E4200 router, if that helps.

but just to clear that the router is okay:

2 iphones, 1 macbook, 1 pc can go online, and it reaches about 6 meters into the next room where I have half of the connection.

So, any other ideas I could try out? :-)

Re: Wireless connection - really slow or not there

Hi:

I have the same router.

Please see the link below for the typical Intel card's advanced settings which you can tweak if you want.

http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-025393.htm

My suggestions if you have these settings:

WMM Enabled (Default)

Roaming Aggressiveness = Lowest

Transmit Power = Highest (Default)

The card will disable and re-connect.

Then restart your PC.

Also, if none of the above works, go into your router's configuration menu and change the broacast channel from Auto or 6 (as applicable) to 1 or 11 and see if that helps.

If there are several other wireless networks in your neighborhood, and they are all set on the default channel, this can cause interference.
