Wireless lan adapter disabled. How do I renable it?

[ Edited ]

The laptop is a HP EliteBook 8440p running Windows 7 Professional Win7Pro.

The HP Wireless Assistant has the following message:  Wireless LAN Adapter:  This device is disabled in the device manager and cannot be enabled from Wirelss Assistant.  It can still be turned off.

I have checked the device manager do not see where to turn it on.

There is a blue light on the above the keyboard and on the front side of the laptop.

It's turned on in the bios.

I've tried to resintall the driver.

The wireless device model # installed is:

intel model: 622anhmw

sps:  +572509-001  OB

Any advice as to how to proceed?  I hope to avoid a complete resinstall.

Re: Wireless lan adapter disabled. How do I renable it?

Hi:

See if you can right click on the wireless card in the device manager and you should be presented with options such as enable, disable, uninstall, etc.

Select enable and see what happens.

Re: Wireless lan adapter disabled. How do I renable it?

I can't find or don't see the wireless device in Device Manager.

I checked every category under the Device Manager and everything is enabled, but there isn't any wireless.  Only Bluetooth shows up but not the wireless adapter,etc..

Re: Wireless lan adapter disabled. How do I renable it?

Hi:

At this point, i don't have any idea except to say for some reason the card died, and your notebook is still under warranty, so I would contact HP Technical Support.

Look in the wireless utility and see if somehow the radio got turned off.

Re: Wireless lan adapter disabled. How do I renable it?

Hi,
It should be visible in:

Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Network adapters

If it's there then right click it and choose enable.

Re: Wireless lan adapter disabled. How do I renable it?

The wireless card had died. HP support overnighted a new wireless card.  We switched it out, and it worked.  Thanks.

Re: Wireless lan adapter disabled. How do I renable it?

click the Start button , clicking Control Panel,

clicking Network and Sharing Center,

and then clicking change adapter setting.

Right-click the wireless network connection,

and then do one of the following: To enable the network adapter, click enable.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. To enable the network adapter, click Enable. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. If you disable the adapter, you have to enable it again to connect to a network.
