Wireless switch on HP Pavilion dv8013cl does not turn on the blue light.

Months ago I made some simple configuration change that disabled the switch, but I do not recall what I did.

Now I want to activate the wireless switch, but do not know what software controls it.

I reseated the wireless hardware card and reinstalled the wireless driver but the switch still does not work.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your interest in solving the problem.

I have seen the wireless button on my HP Pavilion turn the wireless light on and off.

The user guide that came with my computer (viewable from the HP Total Care application)

    Wireless (Select Models Only)

    October 2005

in chapter 5, page 14 says

    " The wireless button (1) enables and disables 802.11 and Bluetooth wireless devices,

    in conjunction with the Wireless Assistant software utility (select models only).

    When the wireless light (2) is on, one or more wireless devices are on."

Thanks for the reply and I was unaware that this was a printer forum. It is now currently posted in an appropriate forum -- Wireless, Internet and home networking.

What software makes the Wireless Button work? Does the HP Wireless Assistant software make the switch work?

Any ideas?

Problem Solved!

I found a solution and it worked.

Just uninstall HP Wireless Assistant and then reboot.

I used the Windows Add or Remove Programs control panel to remove it.

Since it worked after the reboot, I did not  reinstall the HP Wireless Assistant.

Actually my external wireless switch works even after I uninstalled HP Wireless Assistant (I had uninstalled HP Wireless Assistant because of a rather annoying problem where the switch was turning on and off by itself).
