Hello,
I want to replace the crappy broadcom wifi card in my dv7-6090eb with the intel centrino advanced 6230 card.
According to the hp repair manual ,the laptop should support it :http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/S
How can i check if it is on the white list so the bios wil support it?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi, Mark:
As long as you order the card listed in your service manual with that specific HP part number on it, it should work.
An Intel 6230 without the HP part number on it, will not work.

Paul,
Thanks for your answer.
So the are different Intel cetrino advanced-n 6230 cards, and only the one with the hp partnumber on it will work?
I don't understand, what would be the difference with another 6230 card?
regards,
Mark

Hi Paul,
I ordered a 636672-001 from the hp part site, on my order it says I ordered a Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 half-minicard - 802.11B/G/N.
It can take from a few days to a few weeks for the part to be shipped to me, so we will wait and see.
Then we have to see if the card will actually work in my dv7 laptop.
Will keep you posted.
Regards,
Mark

The HP parts store database states this is for various models HP ProBook 4XXX series.
I called HP parts service and told them my previous WLAN card I ordered under part no. 631956-001 was not the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 card as stated in the user manual. I decided to try the same number again after the service guy stated he would attach a note that the card should be the Intel 6230, and the customer had received the wrong card the last time he ordered under the same part number. I'll post an update on the card I actually receive, and its compatibility with my dv7tqe 6XXX series notebook. Hopefully one of us will resolve the actual part no. needed to get the Intel 6230.
