f2 and f3 brightness buttons not work and Wifi has to be reset everytime to connect to a network

HP Pavilion dm1-4010us

Windows 7 64-bit

Purchased early May 2012

I've been having issues lately on two fronts.

The first ist that the f2 and f3 buttons, which control the screen brightness don't work anymore.  They were working a week ago, and now they no longer respond.  This occurs both when it is not connected to AC power or just on battery alone.  Also when I try to change the brightness through the control panel's display options, it cycles through the different power modes with different brightness levels, but the screen does not respond.  I'm not sure how to resolve this issue.

The second issue I have is with the Wifi connection.  Almost everytime I start up the computer, I'm able to view available Wifi networks, and attempt to connect to them, but it isn't able to connect.  If I disable and then reenable the Wifi it will then work and will be able to connect (sometimes I have to disable and reenable multiple times).  I'm not sure why this is occuring everytime, but its a bit annoying.

I'm not sure if these problems are due to some hardward issues.  I purchased this product through Amazon, and the 30 day return just passed a few days ago, right before the dimness issues.  Its still under its 1 year warranty.  Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply and the help.  Your advice helped with the brightness controls, but I'm still having the same issue with the Wifi connection.  Any other ideas? I've tried using the Windows network alone, as well as using HP's network manager and the problem occurs with both.

Hi,

I am really sorry for the late reply.

Did you reinstall the Network Drivers & BIOS??

Dint reinstalling the network drivers help it. Then perform the recovery on the NB.

Thank & Regards

Re: f2 and f3 brightness buttons not work and Wifi has to be reset everytime to connect to a network

So the brightness buttons are working, but I still have the Wifi problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers for BIOS and wifi, and it hasn't helped.  I still have to restart my computer a couple times/turn the network adapter on and off a few times/do the network troubleshooter multiple times before it will connect via Wifi.  Any ideas?

Re: f2 and f3 brightness buttons not work and Wifi has to be reset everytime to connect to a network

Any help?

The problem is still going on.  Reinstalling the drivers don't help.  I have to troubleshoot the network adapter almost everytime I want to connect to the internet.  Sometimes I have to troubleshoot multiple times or restart my computer to get it to connect to Wifi.  Any ideas?
