I had to reinstall windows 7/64 (used my own version ultimate) beause the whole system crashed beyond recovery options.

All went well with bios upgrade, software drivers install etc - except wireless lan. No matter what driver I used - they don't install. Wi-fi doesn't work. The wi-fi button is sometimes white, sometimes orange, doesn't toggle, just changes to a different color on another boot. Device manager shows two exclamation marks: network controller and PC communication device. The regular wired ethernet works fine.

For each device that has a warning icon against it, do the following.

Go into Device Manager, right click on the problem device and select Properties.  Click the Details tab, choose Hardware Ids from the dropdown box and post back with the details shown under Value.

I was able to google the compatible devices, and first from the top of many choices found by driveridentifier.com was it. Both devices are now working fine. Shame on HP no providing proper drivers on their website.
