Hi we recently unsuccessfully carried out a windows update for our HP G62 laptop which runs on Windows 7. Now we can't connect to the internet and it says 'invalid ip address'. It just says unidentified network although it says that it is connected to our BT homehub. We have tried to plug it to the box by ethernet but this doesn't work and we've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the homehub too. We have tried to get BT to change the IP address but they say they can't do this and it will affect the other machines we use, which all connect successfully to the homehub. Can anyone advise us what to do to get it to access the internet again!?
Thank you!

Windows update definetely caused this. Try turning windows firewall off.
Also try booting up to safe mode with network just to isolate the issue that windows is blocking some of the DHCP packets here. ![]()

Thanks for that- but I've tried to disable the firewall but it won't allow any alterations to the firewall at all- tells us it is out of date etc and obviously won't update but also won't disable!
Any ideas!?
Thanks!
