joining my existing home network

Sorry - hit enter by mistake.  I have a new Pavilion dv6 with Win7 and all s/w is up-to-date.  I have added it to my existing home network which includes 2 PCs with XP (sp3) and an iMac, all connected through an Airport/Time Machine router.  The new HP Pavilion accesses the Internet just great whether wired or wireless, but can't/won't see any other computers on the network.  It does see the wireless printer (an HP) and the Time Machine (backup drive on the network as part of the Airport router), but none of the other computers.  How can I get it to join the network and share files as nicely as all the others already do?

Please use plain text.

Re: joining my existing home network

Hi:

Are all of your PC's on the same workgroup name?

The default workgroup name for XP is MSHOME. But the default workgroup name for Windows 2000, Vista and Windows 7 is WORKGROUP.

It doesn't matter what you name the workgroup, but all PC's must have the same workgroup name in order to "see" each other on the network.
