I have a HP Pavilion G6-1311AX. I also have cable internet with Telstra Clear. I cannot connect to the internet because it asks for username and password, which we don't have for our cable connection. I rang Telstra Clear and they confirmed, we do not have or need this information normally. So how do I get my laptop to connect?

Hi,
Telstra should tell you your username and password. What is your type of connection actually. Is it in this group ?

We have the Cable broadband + phoneline. Telstra Clear said we have a static IP address and don't have a username or password.

Hi,
That means you don't need username and password. Normally they (ISP's) supply username and password for customers to be able to use their service(s). In your case, they may set up full time/always connected therefore no need username & password.
Regards.

Hi,
Do you mean Windows username & password ? If yes I don't know, it's your machine.
I actually did ask Telstra Oz people and they said you need to talk with Telstra over there.
Regards.
